Thoroughly amazed...

While googling myself,
yes, I do.
I like to keep a low profile on the internet.
But back to the subject.
I came across and old free web site I had.
Old as in 6 years old.
I had this when I was 15.
I'm amazed it's still around,
and even more amazed that I just found it.
Ahhh... so nostalgic.
Back in the day before the dotcom boom,
and then the dotcom crash.
Back in the day when the web was still young,
just a wee young lad at that.
It was said anything could be found.
Too bad it wasn't true at that time.
Of course google has changed all that.
This really takes me back.
a 56k modem was top of the line,
and some isp only provided up to 33k.
I thought most of the old internet,
and most of my accounts died.
Went the way of a ghost town,
leaving search engines full of dead links,
making the internet desolate.
Those were the good ol' days.
popups were few and far in between,
low risk for you computer to get an std.
Spam was just canned ham.
Napster was just catching on,
and chat rooms actually had people chatting in them.
But most of all,
there was still intelligence on the internet.
No aol speak,
little leet speak.
Flame wars were large and caused many fueds.
You learned on your own for fear,
no mercy for the newbie who didn't read the manual.
Well, I'm done for now.
I hope some of you find this as great as I did,
and some you were able to remember the days of old.

So, I've never been as technologically advanced as anyone from my generation "should be", but I do remember those days and cherish the hours I spent in a Spice Girls, or Backstreet Boys chatroom discussing which songs are the best and praying that the poser in the room really is a band member and not a real poser. Yes, it's pathetic, but it's AOL and the internet in it's younger days (or maybe just me in my younger days).

Thanks for that nostalgic trip...
